Is Bluetooth On A Collision Course With Wi-Fi?

The recent emergence of a "Wi-Fi phones on the market has a lot of people ask," what could be. " In view of the Bluetooth vs. WiFi phones, we see a possible collision of skills? Not so fast … don''t be blinded by the light.
OK, you may have seen a few phones with Wi-Fi on the market lately … and it seems that the penetration of mobile from these "Wi-Fi phones is now only increase with time. It also seems that what thecurrent user can achieve with Bluetooth … may also be possible via Wi-Fi at some point in the not too distant future.
I''ve listed below provide the primary use cases for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, such as "may" find a solution.
1. Its wireless headset – Wi-Fi headsets take a lot more power than Bluetooth doesn''t, that seem insurmountable in due time though.
2. Wireless data transfer – is already possible via Wi-Fi
3. To ensure safety – Bluetooth''s frequency-hopping transmissionsSecurity and less interference, but even that is not an insurmountable hurdle for Wi-Fi
4th Mobile to PC Sync – Possible via Wi-Fi
If a manufacturer pays $ X per chip with Wi-Fi in. .. they could also work to resolve these problems and remove from BT phones.
But there in my honest opinion 'more to the story, if you really look under the hood.
So, I do not believe in competition, the two come together.
Bluetooth is probably alwaysremain in the handset for two reasons. The first is that it enables low-power headset. Unlike Wi-Fi, Bluetooth allows the synchronous transmission of voice, without the need for VoIP. It was one of the most important prerequisites for the Bluetooth specification, and means that headsets made that a good conversation can be time with small batteries. The outlay for VoIP processing for each standard, ie not supported native voice, that the Wi-Fi is unlikely to ever take away that market. And despite the publicWi-Fi handsets, is the only wireless connections that most people ever to a headset.
What will strengthen the continuation of Bluetooth in mobile phones is the new low power variant, also known as Wibree or Ultra Low Power Bluetooth known. This is exciting, the cellular phone provider for their ability to connect the handset to a new range of accessories such as watches, sports and health sensors connected. This technology is located within the same Bluetooth chip, so that the functionality in thefor the listener at no additional cost.
The other important thing about Bluetooth and Wi-Fi function realizing their different topologies. Wi-Fi in general discussions of access points, Bluetooth devices, whereas you are talking with other Bluetooth devices in what is know as an ad-hoc connection. 802.11 – the standard behind Wi-Fi can theoretically handle ad-hoc connections, but it''sa function that is poorly implemented and lacks interoperability. Much of the power of Bluetooth has been made regarding the higher levelStacks that offer the opportunity to find other devices to connect together to bring them safely to and a number of data transfers. It''s the best part of Bluetooth has been taken ten years to get it right this aspect. Wi-Fi is not yet hasn''t started it.
That 'why there are now combining work is ongoing, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, so that will be used for this initial setup of the connection, then Wi-Fi is turned on, under the control of Bluetooth, a higher execution speed transferred. There are potential problemsthis approach, since both can have the same frequencies, and if the two are heavily used at the same time, it lead to performance problems that are obvious to the user. To combat that is device and equipment manufacturers is also working intensively on a combination of UWB and Bluetooth. This provides better noise immunity, higher data rates at close range and a much lower power consumption, which can be achieved for a similar data rate of Wi-Fi.
The reality is that we will probably endwith three short-range wireless standard for mobile phones in the coming years – Bluetooth (including Ultra Low Power), Wi-Fi and UWB. Likely in the near future that it will merge''Bluetooth and Wi-Fi in a single chip, with an additional UWB RF chip. If they''re all through Bluetooth, controls the good news is that the user is only dealing with an application interface.
