Home Computing in the Cloud – But Will We Just Rediscover the Same Old Problems?

Recently I wrote about home PC moving into the cloud. One of my observations, why I like the cloud, the applications run faster than an equivalent application that six years on my old PC. The cloud seemed to extend the life of my PC. It took only good enough to run a browser. I hate casting a working PC, just because it must be treated quickly updated frequently overloaded the application software.
I write a lot of creative writing and brainstorming. Whenan idea comes to me, I want to pop open a document and get it down, now, while the ideas are coming.
I disliked Microsoft Word, my main writing tool, because it took … so … long … to … launch. And even when it appeared to be ready for my use, it … still … was … doing … things … behind … the … scene: I would type and nothing would show up for moments.
Instead, I can open Google Docs and I can start to type almost immediately. Plus, I never had to “save” the Document. It was always saved for me. I''ve never lost a bit different than in Word, where I lose a major chunk of work, at regular intervals. Yes, I manually save every few minutes with Word – that saves a normal batting I''ve done for decades, but always something happens later. Always. The Cloud seemed to Google Docs to work more intuitively (eg no need to save – what was that with Word? So last decade.) And faster.
Noted, however, I''ve a recent change.Activated with Google Docs I "Gears". This allows my PC to do more of the work. It allows me to edit offline. The problem is, I start a document and then I get presented with a screen, as it synchronize with my PC. Ugh. Stop it! I don''t care. I want to write. Now.
It had reminded me to write all my applications software development team, recalled. Every time we wanted to "start" and a better application, too often we have discovered that too many of these things we hate aboutThe old software was also required in the new software. Many relate to the safety and performance. Others had used all of the features that we thought nobody. We want these things. You can slow down the application. As an additional safe and robust performance can cause problems. Ensure that the customer gets what they want, could a series of questions or display status updates require time-consuming on the display.
So my concern is how the personal cloud-based applications (eg Google Docs matureQuickenOnline.com, IDrive.com etc.), they will slowly become what we already on each PC. Among the problems. The advantage of the accessibility and speed everywhere will be severely limited by security and the need for safety (eg don''t lose my job). We will only migrate everything to the cloud, with no net benefit, except to the wonderful people we have the ability Cloud. You now have our business. As much for a clean … for them. Will we be betteroff?
I still like the cloud approach to home computing. Who can submit in writing of free productivity applications (, spreadsheets, financial software, etc.) and the almost limitless storage? However, the reality is starting in the set and like all the information and telecommunications technology initiatives, I am now because the difference between the promises and what it really is. Next we want to hear the series of promises: "We will have this feature in the next version! Then everything is what youcould do on your PC. "
